AI is changing the way buildings are designed, documented and realised. This seminar examines how architects can integrate these tools into their daily work in a concrete and practical way.
The seminar focuses on an in-depth examination of IFC, the open data standard behind open BIM workflows, and the question of how AI can be used to read, query and work with building information. Using Python, participants will create their own AI-powered tools: from simple language model queries to chatbots, document retrieval systems, and agents that interact directly with BIM models. No prior programming knowledge is required.
By the end of the seminar, you will have a clearer picture of where the profession is heading, as well as practical tools to navigate it.
Previous Knowledge Expected
Prior knowledge in programming is helpful but not strictly required.
Objective (Expected Results of Study and Acquired Competences)
- Understand how AI tools are changing architectural practice and how to integrate them meaningfully into daily work
- Learn the basics of Python programming and build your own AI-powered tools that interact with BIM models
- Gain a deep understanding of IFC as an open data standard and its potential in combination with modern language models
