SmartBIM

/ GuD II

The course teaches smart and efficient methods to exploit the advantages of BIM in various work processes and to simplify processes. Using ArchiCAD as an example, we will show you the way to a faster workflow in four blocks. At the beginning of the course, we will deal with in-depth possibilities of presentation, as well as special components and their exchange in the team. In addition, you will learn how to read out and process BIM data in the form of tables, for example, for structural or energy analyses. Subsequently, methods for avoiding repetitive work steps through design variants, modules and hotlinks are taught. The creation of complex, parametric geometries in Grasshopper and the transfer of BIM geometry into ArchiCAD is the topic of the third section. Finally, layouting and rendering will be the focus. As a final assignment in the fourth block of the course, all participants, individually or in groups of two, hand in a project that deepens the content of a previous block on the basis of individual problems.

Previous Knowledge Expected

Basic knowledge of ArchiCAD beyond the requirements of littleBIM is a prerequisite for this course. At least one project of medium size should have been worked on with ArchiCAD. Successful completion of GBT_1b, Individualised Construction Production & BIGBIM courses would be desirable. The student should enjoy solving complex problems, be interested in improving their representation and design technique in and with ArchiCAD.

Course Criteria & Registration

The course is offered during the semester. The registration takes place via RWTH-Online.
